hallowedhalls A slow-burning journey through dark and hidden places. A lot of nice touches in this album that really draw you into the story and toward the epic conclusion. Favorite track: A Chat On The Subject of Coal.

ogrehammer An amazing journey full of depth, atmosphere, and incredibly unique charm. Dark Souls inspired and quite haunting. This album does what I wish so many dungeon synth albums would do and showcases a excellent climax of black metal during Lucan The Befouler. Favorite track: Lucan The Befouler.
Z. Janson
Z. Janson thumbnail
Z. Janson Immersive and atmospheric dungeon sounds, ranging from choral sections and synthesizer passages to spoken word, ambiance and metal. A necessary followup for those who enjoyed the original release. FFO: Summoning, Caladan Brood, Emyn Muil, Winterfylleth, Hedge Wizard. Favorite track: The Lord Soul.

Gabriel Tamas I am by no means a Dark Souls fan. But inspired by that malignant Universe came along this outstanding Dungeon Synth album! This is certainly not a low effort carbon copy DS album, but yet another unique and melancholic tour de force. The addition of vocals only completes the sound even further and creates an escapist masterpiece! The addition of sound effects gives an immersive feeling and the last two tracks, with their Black Metal sound round it all up in a brilliant experience. Favorite track: The Ashen Weald.

about

With this release I set out to emulate a small DLC area that could potentially be found within the Dark Souls universe. With a few new characters, places and items, I have attempted to fuse music with atmosphere in a way I have never attempted before.

The Dire Pass is located under the earth of an old chapel in the land known as 'The Ashen Weald'. A place forgotten by time, and traveled only by those who are truly lost.

'Lucan The Befouler' is a song meant to emulate the intensity of boss battles found within the game.

The final song 'The Lord Soul' paints the transition from an 'accursed undead' to that of a fully restored hero of a broken world.
